l would like to submit my nomination for SDASCOE President. With all campaigns you get promises. My only promise is to keep the membership informed of all information that comes my way and work hard for the membership. When I commit to something I do my best and see it through I will do the same for you as your SDASCOE President.
There are several new people on board and with the lack of meetings and social gathering that we have had in the past it is hard to know all the people that work for FSA so here is a little about me:
The last 2 years I have served as your Vice President and Historian as I successfully completed the previous 5 year history book and have a good start on the next five years.
I served as Chair for Membership for 5 years, and Ways and Means Chairperson,
I served as an Alternate or Director for different districts since the 2nd year of employment.
I served as NWA Membership for 5 year and again I am currently serving in that capacity.
I served as NWA Benefits Chairperson and as NASCOE Benefits Chairperson for 3 years.
In 2005 while helping host the National Convention I was honored to receive the Distinguished Service Award for Service to NASCOE at State, Area and National winner.
I have served as delegate for NWA Rally and National Convention and have gone to most of the National and NWA Rally in the past 15 years.
I served as a Co-Chairperson for promoting 50 years of NASCOE for our NASCOE Convention in 2008 with Herb Sorley from Texas.
I can proudly say I have never missed a SDASCOE State Convention!
A little about me personally! I am married to a great guy “Jim” and currently live in Burke, where I am the CED for Gregory County FSA. Twenty six years ago I started my career in Mitchell as a PT and in 1994 I was accepted into the COT program. Wherever we have lived I have been active in the Community and our Church. Currently I have been instrumental in organizing a one day event for “Women In Ag” which has brought capacity crowds from 14 counties and 2 states to the event. I must say I could not do this without the support from FSA and without the help from my staff and the Conservation District! I have also been involved in County Government Days where I have the opportunity to promote FSA programs and career opportunity for the Government classes for 3 high schools in Gregory County along with organizing programs to promote Agriculture to the 2nd and 4th grade classes in the schools in Gregory County. Several opportunities have been afforded to speak with the Rotary and Community Clubs to promote FSA and what we do for our customers and for the community. Along with that I am active in our church with organizing Vacation Bible School and overseeing the week, member of the ladies aid and group leader for one of the ladies group for organizing meals or events, member of the alter society, and a member of our small choir. I am also the Congregational Coordinator for Thrivent Financial for our church and active in helping with fund raisers for the Community and individuals. We travel often to my family in Viborg, Yankton area and Jim’s family in the Mitchell and Rapid City area.
I am willing and would be proud to serve the members of SDASCOE! With that I ask that you consider casting your vote for me for your next President of SDASCOE at our State Convention in Brookings.
