After the SDASCOE election and I was your new VP for SDASCOE I told Peggy (our SDASCOE
President) that I felt odd because there just didn’t seem to be anything for me to do!  I am so
used to doing projects, writing reports, investigating new benefits, encouraging membership
through correspondence – both for SDASCOE, NWA or National.  So-o-o- before our first
meeting, the Fall Board Meeting, I asked again “Peggy are you sure I shouldn’t be doing
something”.  Well I no longer can ask that as your VP – Peggy asked if I would help or do the
History for SDASCOE.  So I would like to give all of you a little update on where we are at.

First Several boxes (boxes and totes) were handed over.  My heart sunk a little at the thought of
transporting and lifting all that so at our Board meeting we put sets of history books together and
disposed of excess copies of one 10 year period as there were no matches for a set of history.
Then I became the proud owner of 4 very large and very heavy totes.  After dragging them to my
basement for storage (too proud to ask for help) my next trip was to a chiropractor and massage
therapist.  LOL

I am in the process of scanning all or SDASCOE’s 50 years worth of history to an External Hard
Drive and copies of the complete history will soon be available on CD’s to anyone.  You will be
able to print the history for your keeping or simple enjoy the history through a slide show on your
computer.  I hope to have this project done before Christmas.

Next I will be asking for volunteers to put the past 5 years of history together so that we have that
available in print and on CD at our next SDASCOE Convention.  STOP – don’t be thinking this is
a hard project and will take too much of your time – it will not!  I will get you started and it truly will
take very little of your time to complete so please consider volunteering to help!  When one has
to do all the work it becomes a difficult task but when several volunteer it becomes easy!

Next will be the financial and all the recordings that go with this – they will be scanned for the pure
need to preserve our data.

Last will be the SDASCOE newsletters – I have not decided how to accomplish this task of
scanning.  There are 2 large totes full and this will be quite the task so more to come on this.

Once this is all accomplished I will place everything on CD or flash drives as a good backup to
our system.  When this is done we will be able to eliminate storing many-many (did I say many)
boxes and totes full of printed information.  No one has the room or the desire to store and
transport this from person to person.

I consider myself a very organized person but with this task I appreciate any comments or
concerns or volunteer help related to this massive project.  I love TEAM work!

It is time to “GO GREEN” please volunteer to help preserve SDASCOE History “our History with
ASCS, CFSA, and FSA”.

Wishing all of you a Meaningful and Merry Christmas and many blessing in your New Year
